Serious About Our Standards - Serious About Architectural Excellence

redtree_cafe_pre_rennovationThe Red Tree Cafe is proud to be located in an established part of Bowral in a building that combines the best of old and new.

The cafe can be found at 52 Station St, which runs parllell to Bowral's swish main shopping street. The Red Tree is a preferred destination of Southern Highland locals due not only to its superb fare and great coffee but also because of easy parking both behind and opposite the premises.

Renovated in the latter half of 2006,In 2006 the 'Old Optus shop' as it was referred to, was in reality a beautiful example of turn of the century simplistic architecture but was in a terrible state of disrepair.

The brief by the owners to local designer and heritage consultant, Terry Brooks, was to provide a commercial retail space with floor area of 150m2.

The resultant building has since won win two heritage awards issued by Wingecarribee Shire Council in 2007 for Sensitive Infill Building and another for Restoration & Additions.

The result is a significant win for the local community delivering a design sympathetic to the heritage listed item to 54 Station Street (next door to 52 Station Street), retention of the turn of the century cottage, whilst removing the later additions which detracted from the same, enhancement of the Station Street streetscape whilst respecting the neighbouring properties and a commercial development of exceptional design and usability
